Artist Of The Month For February 2021 - Alberto Repetti
Alberto Repetti鈥檚 artworks grip our gaze on the abstract plane to rediscover new germinating layers of signs and shapes. Born in Genoa, Italy, Repetti believes in gaining expertise over a myriad of diverse techniques, which become an essential factor in creating and expressing with precision and accuracy.
However, with his many decades of experience in pictorial research and visual experimentation, he has been pivotal in developing new realms and vistas of abstract ideology.
Repetti practices in a variety of mediums, ranging from oil on canvas, enamel on Plexiglas as well as paper, drawings, graphics, among other mixed media. While abstraction being his primary mode of expression, he is well adept in portraiture, landscape, drapery, and figurative painting.
Most importantly, his abstract artworks in Bira pen, a kind of ballpoint, which he describes as 鈥楤irascapes鈥, exceptionally measure the tonal values of achromatic hues and unknown crevices of human consciousness.
In his Birascapes, he refers to each stroke as a sign, which strives to initiate a process of developing complex yet simplified signs and shapes.
Are these signs an epitome of the turbulence within himself that occurs during the process of rendering?
Or are they signatures of arrival at the state that is redeeming and beyond the reach of human instinct?
From emerging layers of involvement with the pen, medium, and conscience, his artwork meander in the realistic land but attributes to the surreal dimension.
Interestingly, Repetti鈥檚 surreal landscapes and colour abstracts speak a similar dialect, only experimenting with numerous vibrant shades. Initiating from the observed landscape, the horizons eventually tend to break away the limitation set by the realistic aspects.
Repetti has exhibited at various venues, national and international while pushing the fences of visual imagination.
