Who Will Build Your Art Career?

There are lots of artists who believe a gallery is the one and only way to make a career.

It used to be this way, but a lot has changed.

Now, you can take control of your own career rather than wait if somebody else might do it for you.

You can build a website and an email list of everyone who is interested in your work.

There are 4,682,203,916 people online.

I don鈥檛 think it鈥檚 unreasonable to think that a small percentage of those people might be interested in your art and what you do.

If you鈥檙e still interested in galleries after you started selling your own work, try you have a few shows under your belt before you start reaching out to galleries.

One of the key thing鈥檚 galleries care about is sales. And if you鈥檙e already selling and have had some exhibitions your chances of them being interest will be much, greater.

Artists who take part in gallery shows are usually those who have a rising trajectory of solid exhibitions at progressively more substantial venues.

Take advantage of different sort of exhibitions in alternative venues in your area.
This will help you get the 3attention you鈥檙e looking for.

I don鈥檛 think you start with a place like the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, you start with local Bars and Restaurants, art centres or some smaller venues and work your way up.

If your work has enough momentum and if it has enough attention it will come to the right people.

An email to the gallery curator to say, 鈥淗i I鈥檓 working on this鈥 without any recommendation is not going to get very far.

However, somebody like the director of your local art centrecan say to the curator at the gallery , 鈥淚 saw this artist鈥檚 work and it struck me as rather strong.鈥

It鈥檚 the curators job to be out there and listening to people. And they are not necessarily looking at art that they鈥檙e reading about in a Magazine. They are looking at art that somebody saw at a local show a while ago.

Every exhibition opportunity is such a valuable experience in an artist鈥檚 career.

Look at it as a tool for advancing your career.

Keep making art and get your work out there.

You can do this! 猸愨瓙猸
